Origins of Igneous Layering: NATO ASI Series C: Mathematical and Physical Sciences Vol.196 - gebonden uitgave, pocketboek
2000, ISBN: 9789027724557
Dordrecht, Lips, 1910. Oblong folio (28.0 x 37.0 cm). 25 pp., printed in black and gold; with numerous illustrations, mostly after original photographs. String-bound embossed green wrappers with gilt vignette of the company logo. A fine commemorative catalogue, showing the production locations, facilities and processes, in particular of making high-quality safes and keys. "The company was founded in 1871 by Jacobus Lips. He soon began to specialize in the manufacture of safes. At the beginning of the 20th century, was one of the first factories in the Netherlands to begin manufacturing locks. The name was changed to: Lips Brandkasten and Slotenfabrieken N.V. Lips grew into one of the most important lock and vault manufacturers in the Netherlands. In 1971, Lips was taken over by the British company Chubb. The company was split in 2000 into a lock factory and a safe factory. In 2000, the Lips lock factory was purchased by the Swedish company Assa Abloy. The safe factory (Lips Brandkasten) was purchased in 2000 by Gunnebo AB, another Swedish security company. The collection from the Lips museum remained in Dordrecht, where it is included in the Dordrecht/DiEP City Archives" (after Wikipedia, Dutch edition). Minor fraying to the wrapper edges, otherwise in mint condition. An excellent copy. Rare., 0, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 1975 & 1976: Elsevier, 1975. Comprehensive two-volume text presents a detailed treatise on the compaction of course-grained sediments, including pyroclastics and their lithified equivalents. Topics covered include mechanics of compaction of sands; compaction of course-grained carbonates and sediments; relationships between compaction and subsidence; mathematics involved in compaction studies; effects of compaction on the properties of sediments and the origin of certain structures; relationship between mechanical and chemical compaction and sandstone diagenesis, including low-grade metamorphism; influence of compaction on pyroclastics, subsurface fluid chemistry, and the origin of metallic ore deposits in sedimentary rocks; etc. 1360 pgs. collectively. Illustrated, including fold-out plates. Prior owner's name on front endpaper. Minimal shelfwear. Dustjackets in mylar. Heavy items. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall., Elsevier, 1975, 5, Dordrecht, Holland: D.Reidel, 1987. Comprehensive text contains detailed technical papers presented by leading international scientists, researchers and field experts covering multidisciplinary topics on the problems of igneous layering, including: layering, compaction and post-magmatic processes in the Klokken Intrusion; gabbroic, syenogabbroic and syenitic cumulates; formation of stratiform PGE deposits in layered intrusions; illustrations of igneous layering; constitutional zone refining of layered intrusions; textural equilibrium in layered igneous rocks; solidification contraction; experimental modelling of interstitial melt convection in cumulus piles; chracteristic dimensions and times for dynamic crystallization; etc. 666 pgs. Illustrated. Small stamps on front endpaper and outer edge; label removal mark on front endpaper. Minimal shelfwear. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
