Prof. Aggelou is the recipient of the U.K. Prize for Research of Excellence 2000 for his research innovations on Mobile Ad Hoc Networking. Prof. Aggelou is an active participant in several IEEE technical committees and activities. He has served on the Grants Committee (UGC) of Hong Kong.
