He served as the head football coach at Williams College from 1987 to 2003, compiling a record of 114-19-3. Farley was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2006. Farley was an All-America defensive back for Boston University, where he was captain of the football and track and field teams and graduated in 1968. He spent two years playing for the San Diego Chargers of the American Football League before moving on to coaching. Farley has coached at Williams College since 1972.
