The two titles first appeared in Philadelphia in 1843 and 1844 respectively. The Complete Cook was reprinted in 1846 and in 1847 and 1851 the two titles were published together. A partial set, though continuous, covering State laws and acts of the Assembly between the year 1791 and 1808. The latter volumes, printed in 1810 and 1822, continue the Laws/Acts from 1803 to 1808, and from 1813 to 1817. Volume IV also contains an interesting Appendix, "Containing Ancient Charters, Public Records and Legistative Acts, Formerly in Force in Pennsylvania, and Still Connected in a Variety of Particulars with the Laws and Policy of the Commonwealth." Bookplate on back fixed endpaper indicating that this was presented to the Washington County Historical Society by Janet M. Clark in 1905. These are followed by 715 pgs numbered continuously which reprint the Acts passed by the PA General Assembly for the years 1795 - 1801. Each of the 7 annual sessions has a separate title page. The first 5 were published by Hall & Sellers in Philadelphia and the last 2 by Bailey in Lancaster. Evans: 30976, 36248, 36249, 34323, 36059, 38208. Early ink ownership of James McCalmont. There is a record of a James McCalmont, son of Thomas who came to America in May 1775 as a soldier in General Burgoyne; s Army, and was captured at Stillwater in Oct 1777. He later married in Carlisle and moved to Mercer County in 1803. Contents tight, scattered light foxing throughout.
